koinobori, carp-shaped streamers
In Japan, carp-shaped streamers called koinobori are traditionally flown on May 5, Children's Day, in order to wish for children's growth and happiness. Legend has it that carp become dragons when they swim up waterfalls.
Carp are symbols of strength and success in life.
