a bouquet of "miracles"

The blue rose symbolizes the impossible because it does not exist in nature and has long been believed impossible to be created.  The rose has no blue-pigment genes to bloom blue flowers.

The flower language (floriography) for blue rose is also "impossible" or "mystery," however, new meanings were added to it recently.

Suntory, a Japanese firm of whisky distillers, succeeded in developing blue roses which have blue-pigment genes by implanting them from pansies into roses.  It is said that the company took as long as twenty years to create the flower, at a cost of about three billion yen.

The firm named their painstakingly produced product "APPLAUSE" and, in 2009, started selling it with the new flower language "dream come true."

Now the blue rose has many new meanings in the language of flowers, such as "dream come true", "blessing of God", and "miracle."

Here is a bouquet of "miracle."Bouquet

Actually it looks a rather pale purple.  A perfectly blue rose still seems to be difficult to create.  Further development might allow us to see a very blue rose in the near future.

Anyway, now the blue rose may be a symbol of "miracle."
